Worry Doesn’t Change the Outcome

Worry has a way of making us feel as though we are doing something.

As if thinking about every possible outcome, replaying every conversation, or imagining what could go wrong might somehow prepare us for what comes next.

But so often, worry simply takes us away from the moment we are actually living.

There are things we can plan for. Things we can learn from. Things we can take action on.

And then there are things we simply cannot control.

Learning the difference is not always easy.

Maybe peace begins when we gently remind ourselves that worrying will not change what is meant to happen. It will not solve tomorrow’s problems before they arrive.

Sometimes worry can make the road ahead feel uncertain. We can become so focused on everything that could go wrong that we forget we only need to take the next step in front of us. We may not always know where the path will lead, but we can still keep moving forward. You may also enjoy reading The Path That Was Still There.

We can take the next step when it is time to take it.

For today, perhaps we can loosen our grip on all the what ifs and return to what is right here in front of us.

Take a breath.

Do what you can.

And let the rest wait until it is time.
