Daily Encouragement

Courage Doesn't Always Look Brave

Sometimes courage doesn’t look the way we imagine it should.

It isn’t always standing tall without fear or boldly facing something with complete confidence.

Sometimes courage looks like making the phone call you’ve been avoiding.

Sometimes it looks like saying goodbye.

Sometimes it looks like asking for help when you’d rather pretend everything is fine.

Sometimes courage is getting out of bed on a day when simply facing the day feels difficult.

It can be setting a boundary. Starting over. Trying again after disappointment. Speaking the truth when your voice shakes.

The truth is, courage doesn’t require you to feel fearless.

Fear can come along for the ride.

What matters is that fear doesn’t get to make every decision for you.

You may not feel brave while you’re doing the hard thing.

But that doesn’t mean you aren’t being incredibly courageous.

Sometimes courage simply means doing what needs to be done, even when the outcome is uncertain. If you’re struggling with what comes after taking that difficult step, you may also find encouragement in Do Your Part, Then Let Go.

Courage doesn’t always feel brave. Sometimes it simply means taking the next step, even when fear is still walking beside you.
